This is a place where you can try your best to describe any legitimate "bugs" you have found in our new setup. Keep in mind that we are constantly improving the system everyday. If in fact you think you have uncovered one of our unfortunate oversights, please post to this topic and describe most accurately what you were doing when the error occured, what browser (including version) you have on your computer, PC or MAC or Other, Cookies enabled or disabled, and any other relevant information you feel will help us solve the problem. Try to be as concise as possible.

Thanks for helping us improve your experience on MucicCityNetworks.

PS: Your posts here will be deleted after they have been read and recorded. When a solution is available, we will post an answer.

I was able to get on the new Toby Keith site during its first few days of beong online For the past two days I haven't been able to get into the site. I log on and it recognizes me but when I click on one of the forum's protected discussions it says that I am a guest. What is going on? When will I be able to get on board again? are you using IE? Probably XP service pac 2 with all security updates -- okay
let us try making musiccitynetworks a trusted site
go to tools menu
internet options
security tab
on the icons across the top click on Trusted Sites the green check mark
click on the button labeled sites that now shows up right under the icons
look at the bottom left at a tiny check box marked
require server verification (https:) for all sites in the zone
uncheck the box
in the bar marked add this web site type
http://tobykeith.musiccitynetworks.com
click Add

enable popups on the google tool bar if disabled
enable popups on IE if diabled

see if that helps

if you aren't using IE email me which browser you are using windy_1@skyhighway.com

Carebear is on-line :)
It turned out to be a problem between peoplePC and this web site. Switching to netzero solved the problem for now

So if you are having problems logging in and are using peoplePC, try a different ISP to get around the problem

still not working here! I have tried the fix posted on the website for the cookie. I tried windy's fix, still no access to the forums. I dont use AOL, or People pc any other weird thing. I have a dialup connection and access the site thru Internet explorer and use windows XP service pack 1. Am getting very frustrated as I have contacted support and got the message about AOL users again after stating I am NOT an AOL user. This sucks!

who is your service provider?
what virus checker are you running?
do you have a software firewall?
what other programs are running on your computer when you attempt to log in?
bring up task manager (ctrl, alt, del) and look at the list of programs running

at some point you should update your system to service pac two and all the other hot fixes - if you email me a street address or p.o. box I will mail you a disk with service pac two because it takes forever to download on dialup windy_1@skyhighway.com This will not fix your problem here. But it will protect your computer from a lot of problems later on down the line.

Since we found that peoplePC has a problem, it may be a number of service providers are blocking, or not responding to, some protocol the authentication software running here requires. I have zero knowledge of what is required for authentication here on the low level since I have zero access to the source code running here. I can only make guesses as to why. But we have found that that a large service provider doesn't work.
We have also noted that is on dial up. Dialup may be what some providers consider a low end connection and thus they have stripped out some thing ....
So - we know net zero works.
Try going to the library (they have internet access free) and see if you can log in -
or try logging in at one of the network coffee shops
this proves your account works

If net zero offers a free month, try it and see if that works

meanwhile please post who your ISP is so this incompatibility with some dial up services can be investigated
also please post the other things I asked so that can be investigated should it be known that your service provider does work.

[FONT=Arial]
service provider is a local telephone company. seidata.com
virus checker is the free version of AVG
no firewall other than the one microsoft provides with Windows XP
no other programs running when I am trying to log on (other than the background programs)

already have the disk (thanks for the offer tho) to upgrade to SP2. just havent done the update yet...

Tried the computer at work but they also use the same service provider as does my local library so not sure where I can find a different provider yet.

I really appreciate all the help windy! Thank you

check to see if netzero has a free month ... we know that works
meanwhile, if you try the library, that will eliminate your computer from the problem
also at your work, they probably don't use dial up. Thus it would eliminate the dialer. It might still be a protocol not enabled on the network connection,.
Please try from one of these different locations to verify whether the problem is consistant on two different computers with two different connections.
I don't think libraries are dial up either .. but I could be wrong

Maybe music city networks could check to see how the dialer is set up for a working service provider compared to a non-working one. Most people don't set up the dialer themselves. They let the software the service provider sends them set it up. If by default some protocol box isn't checked ... maybe
I'm over my ears at work and really don't have a few hours to install two sets of ISP software (netzero and peoplepc) and verify they set up the dialer the same. It would be a quick fix if it was discovered they didn't have one of the security protocols enabled

let me know if it remains non-functional across two computer systems

ok so I went thru the trouble of downloading and installing netzero. Now I can login and access the forums but I DO NOT want to continue to use netzero (don't want to tie up more money into this problem) I need to be able to access thru my service provider. so now what is the problem and the fix?

Thanks!

You have both dialers on your computer, right?
right click on my network place
right click on your main dialer and select properties
see if windows will let you bring up the properties on the net zero dialer at the same time
if I remember right it is on the advanced tab you have access to the tcp/ip properties. Verify both dialers are set up with the same protocols
I have a dialer on my portable at home. It'll be a few hours and I'll be home and post a walk though for you

yes, you are right. You should not be required to do this. However, I fear it is the only way we'll get it solved. If we find no difference in the dialers, then music city networks needs to analyze what is going on. It is important to work with all service providers

several differences on between the two.
on the advanced tab:
Netzero has nothing checked , my provider has Internet Connection Firewall checked.
on the Networking tab:
Netzero hasInternet protocol, Qos Packet, and Client for Microsoft networks checked, my provider has only internet protocol and QoS Packet checked.
on the Options tab:
Netzero has prompt for phone number checked, my provider has display progress, prompt for name, prompt for phone number checked.

thanks for all the help!

wow that maybe it **** the firewall
Uncheck the firewall on your provider's dialer
see if that works
if so - we got the fix
if not add Client for Microsoft by checking the box
see if you log in

I think it'll be the firewall ..
Please let me know I'm so curious

I tried changing the internet connection firewall and that didnt get me in to the forums. I went back and changed the microsoft client access and that didnt get me in. so I went back and changed it back to the way it was.
I logged in and tried to go to forums, didnt work, I logged in again, didnt work, I clicked teh register button and went thru all that and it let me log in to the forums but it had a box on the side of my screen that said you have 1 item in your basket to you want to checkout. so I checked out even tho there was no items in my basket when I viewed it before checking out. so then I logged out and tried to log in again. no forums. logged in again, forum access. yeah!
BUT, everytime I have tried to log in, I have to log in again on the forum page, and I still have that box that says I have 1 item in my basket.

So now what?? I am glad someone there (you) is at least trying to help me. Thank you so much!

Try deleting all your cookies and see if that helps
if not
email me windy_1@skyhighway.com
I will email you back a login and password for a test account I created in an attempt to figure out if problems were account specific or connection specific

If you get the same problem on the test account, then it is still a connection issue
Since netzero seems to work it leans in that direction - but never hurts to eliminate a section of possible problem

Windy,
I am now able to log in and access the forums with only having to log in one time, and using my original settings with my service provider.
I also emailed my internet provider and here is the response I recieved from them. "Actually the problem is at tobykeith.musiccitynetworks.com
This site is not a proxy/cache friendly. What I did was a workaround,
which fixes the problem for SEI Data customers only."

But if you want me to I can go ahead and email you and use the test account you created. I am sure others are still having problems logging in.

my email is rmosley@seidata.com.

Thanks again for your patience and help.

I am now back on the forum. I have called my ISP and after a few attempts we finally figured out that it is the acceleration program they use. The accerleration program is what does the caching which is what I had to get around. So I disable the acceleration while I am on the forum and I am in. Windy I want to thank you greatly for all of your help over the last few days I hope that there is something special waiting for you when this is all over. If there is any thing I can help anyone else with don't be afraid to ask. I will try my best to help you out.

Man, you guys are troopers. Windy, MusicCityNetworks thanks you for helping. What accelleration software does your ISP use? I have been fighting tooth and nail to find a solution to the cookie problem. Windy, are you starting to think it is a per ISP solution? Is there something I can do on our end to overcome the caching on their end?

That's a tough question Stephen. I don't think there is a simple answer.

Web accelerators are mostly caching algorithms. Based on the knowledge that this caching causes log in problems ...

If I remember correctly, "intelligent" caching is done by requesting only "changed" data from the server. If that is the case, I believe your servers can be configured to return all data as "changed". This defeats the "intelligent" caching and allows your software to function without the user doing anything. This should work in most cases.

There is the complicated schemes of making sure the area of the code asked for only changed data knows about dynamically changed data. Thinking about the amount of work involved in doing that, I'd opt for sending everything as changed (the KISS school of programming)

There may still be a few problems with the read-ahead browsing which is part of web accelerators. They work by prefetching text links (and sometimes graphics) while you're still reading a page. For the most part, read-ahead accelerators grab all the links on the current page, and then dump them into the cache in the background. When you finally get around to clicking a cached link, the destination page should pop up instantly from your hard drive.
So - there is a potential problem if links become valid only after one logs in, and pages accessed by those links are not valid until after the sign in, maybe some ISP's software will cache invalid data and not realize it should update it.

Then there is the problem of intelligent caching that isn't really intelligent. It may not request changed data often enough to allow authentication to function. Those cases would require disabling the web accelerator.

Mulling it over ... after setting the servers to return all data as "changed" what if a link was added to the main page .. If you are having problems logging in - please read this :
The link would open a page with helpful suggestions like
1) Disable your web accelerator if you are using one

>> call your ISP for instructions

2) Delete all cookies (with instructions)

3) Disable firewall software

>> Consult your firewall documentation

4) Disable firewall in dialer

>> Contact your ISP for details.

5) if none of this works email for assistance (email address)

>> support@tobykeith.com

In previous version of Invision software the forum adds the sub forum and topic link to the base or root of the forum software's path.
The logical root is
http://tobykeith.musiccitynetworks.com/
That is, most likely, not the physical root.
There are probably a few servers involved physically
To handle this the last version of the Invision software has a field that the board admin is suppose to fill out that represents the "Logical Base Path"
This is added to the forum messages so that a clickable link is sent in email
I am guessing that this was left blank or is not functioning

Topic subscription emails are sent for this forum (probably because it is the main forum) In them the link is just something like
forum/index.php?act=Post&CODE=02&f=14&t=26
rather than
<http://tobykeith.musiccitynetworks.com/forum/index.php?act=Post&CODE=02&f=14&t=26>
the http://tobykeith.musiccitynetworks.com/ is missing

don't panic. We figured out a few things that cause this problem
1) delete all stored cookies in your browser
2) if you are AOL - try using IE once you log into AOL
3) do you have a web accelerator? if so disable it
4) if none of that works - are you running a software firewall? disable it

if none of that works - what ISP are you using? Call them and let them know you wish to log into a web site that is not cache/proxie friendly.
If you are on dialup you can download netzero for a number of free hours and verify if you can log in using netzero. It has worked for most of the folks who have been having problems. It narrows the problem down to your ISP using caching

Just Noticed BUG:
Displayed time is one hour fast for pacific time
checking daylight saving time box sets it two hours fast

It is 7:34 am here post will show for me as 8:34 am
I go into my control board setting and look at time zone

It is correct - pacific
It says - if time is wrong and zone is right check daylight saving box
I do that and time becomes two hours fast
perhaps the server needs it's time changed

Yeah Gayle same with me, I think it is the server time problem there. I jsut clicked on a different time zone for now that gave me the right time. I will just have to wait until it gets fixed. Hey at least I am here right?

I am having the same problems with Toby's forum.I have followed all the tips here as well as the guidelines for cookies, etc.Still nothing.I have tried my husbands work computer and the library as we all have different ISP's.Still nothing.I have also email Kortney for help and no response.
I am trying to be patient but this is so frustrating.I have paid for my membership to his fanclub and can't even get the news on the forums. All other fanclub aspects on the site seem to work fine.
Please help someone!!! Thanks!!
It is good to learn of others peoples problems though. At least I know it's not jsut me.

One more thing, too.I have never been able to use the pre-sale ticketing here.I always get an error message. So,I have to have a friend do it for me on his computer.
I have tried to work thru this with my ISP as well as disabling my firewall. No such luck.Could the same problems I am having from the ticketing be on the forum as well? Just a thought!
Every other site that uses MusicCityNetworks works fine for me and I can log in as usual. It is the Toby forum that is my problem. There has got to be a user friendly way to solve these problems.I don't think I should have to turn my firewall off or download Netzero or anything else I really don't want.
Thanks to whoever may be able to help me!!

To solve that one we need to have more information on what your exact setup is
You are right. Music City Networks should fix their code running these new sites. But since they aren't - maybe because they are buried trying to debug this - and yes they shouldn't have taken it on-line before it was debugged, but hind sight is 20/20 and throwing blame won't get the problems solved
That said and behind us
What ISP are you using?
What OS are you using?
What browser are you using?
Are the security patches for your OS up to date?
What virus checker are you running?
Do you have a web accelerator running?
Do you have caching enabled in your router (hardware firewall)?

I do not have access to Music City Networks code base but I can guess by the errors being seen that it is using dynamic cookie handling and thus can not deal with any form of caching. When you click on the link to pre-sale tickets music city networks’ web server is suppose to pass authentication information over to the web site of the company that sells the tickets. The difference on this site (and a few others they have moved to this new scheme) is that tobykeith is a sub domain and not the main domain. Also dynamic cookies -
So – by you answering the above questions I can take educated guesses as to what is happening and why it is not working and write it up with enough information that music city networks should be able to fix it if they wish to.
so much fun. so little time

One other thing-here is what I get when I click on "follow this link to purchase tickets" for this site as well as Tracy Lawrence's.I have always had this problem and support has told me to turn off my firewall. So I did and nothing.

This site can only be accessed from within the official site. If you believe you have reached this page in error, email tix@musictoday.com.

Again-many thanks!!

I can't access the forum using IE either. I have switched to Firefox.
You may not want to use Firefox but if it works it will tell us what the problem is
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

If you can get on with firefox and not IE and insist on using IE - good luck
Microsoft isn't going to change IE and music city networks hasn't fixed the problem with IE and some security setups since the top of February. I doubt they'll be getting around to fixing it soon

Before installing firefox
1) try deleting all cookies
If that doesn’t work

2) make sure musiccitynetworks.com is a trusted site
tools
internet options
security tab
click trusted sites
click the sites tab
add musiccitynetworks.com
uncheck the tiny box in the lower left hand corner that says
require server verification (https://) for all sites in this zone

after that its best to install firefox as a sanity check
if it works – the problem is how IE on your instance of XP is handling the dynamic stuff and the flash
I haven’t gotten IE to handle this web site on seven different systems, across five different ISPs and four different OSs (xp pro, win2000, win2000 advanced server and win2003 advanced server) On all of them Firefox works to log into the forum

Firefox is handling the switch to the pre-ticket sales web site also

If FireFox doesn’t work – try downloading netzero (for a few free hours) to see if that solves the problem. What we know is this web site is caching hostel and if you inform your ISP that netzero works and they don’t they usually know how to fix that (or tell you how to)
And yes, music city networks should fix it at this end, but they haven’t . So we’re stuck attempting to patch it from the other end
