Toby Keith earned $48 million between June 1, 2007, and June 1, 2008, making him the third highest-earning musician in that time frame, according to Forbes magazine. The Police ranked first with $115 million, followed by Beyoncé with $80 million. The Top 10 is rounded out by Justin Timberlake ($44 million), Madonna, Celine Dion and Rascal Flatts ($40 million each), Van Halen ($35 million), Genesis ($31 million) and Gwen Stefani ($27 million

This number may be hard to swallow for anyone who has lost big in the recently undulating stock market. But here goes. Toby Keith made $48 million in the last year. That makes him one of the world’s best-paid music stars, according to Forbes magazine. It actually puts him at No. 3, after Beyoncé but before Madonna. He works hard putting country music on the table and selling out arenas all year long. So far, he’s sold more than 25 million albums in the past seven years. And his new one, That Don’t Make Me a Bad Guy, comes out in October. Who wants to bet that puts him even higher on the Forbes list next year?

I know there are a lot of Toby Keith fans out there, I’m one of them. I’ve only seen him in concert once, and he put on a fantastic show. But what I didn’t know, and maybe you didn’t know either, is that he is not only one of the biggest earning stars in country music, but he’s actually one of the biggest earning stars in the whole music industry.

He was third on Forbes list of the highest paid music stars, pulling in $48 million this past year. He was the only country entertainer in Forbes’ top 5, which also included The Police, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Madonna.

In addition to his tours, records, and Ford Truck commercials, Toby also owns a chain of restaurants. I’ve always liked Toby - how many of you remember his song, "Me, Too" from his Blue Moon CD? "Me, Too" is actually one of my favorite Toby songs (one of many!).

Thank You! It annoys me when people talk about Toby as the "highest paying country music star" without talking about his other interests. People who don't know his history probably assume that he made all that money by charging higher prices for his CD's and concerts. Of course, that's not true. We Warriors know how hard he works, and how many things he's involved in. I just hate these 1 or 2 dimensional "profiles". Thanks again.
